Mike "Rhino" Rihner
An award-winning
composer, performer, and
music educator from New Orleans, Louisiana.
As a composer,
Mike has produced several full-length compact discs featuring
original contemporary works, and he has also composed two
large-scale orchestral suites and one symphony. Mike has been
awarded composition awards both in jazz and classical music.
As a performer and
bandleader, Mike has performed at major music festivals, arenas,
performance halls, night clubs, college campuses, and other
venues. He has performed with classical, jazz, and contemporary
ensembles. During the summer months Mike is the Entertainment
Director and performs in the historic lodges and hotels of
Glacier National Park in Montana.
As a music educator,
Mike has been teaching in South Louisiana for over a decade.
He currently teaches at the New Orleans Center for Creative
Arts, and has also taught at Delgado Community College and
Loyola University College of Music in New Orleans.
